A unique small-batch chocolate creation blending the richness of fresh cream with the crisp texture of Dorset sea salt captivated dessert lovers, selling out in less than a day.
This delectable product, ‘Butter Toffee Fresh Chocolates,’ is the result of a collaboration between Russell & Atwell and Dorset Sea Salt Co. Meticulously crafted using sustainably sourced ingredients, the microbatch highlights both brands’ commitment to quality.
Renowned for using organic British double cream and wildflower honey, Russell & Atwell’s chocolates are designed to be kept in the fridge for optimal freshness. For this special edition, a delicate sprinkle of oak-smoked Dorset sea salt was added, not only enhancing flavor but also extending the chocolates’ shelf life.

The salt is harvested from the pristine waters off Chesil Beach, a UNESCO World Heritage site, and undergoes triple-filtration before being crystallized with renewable energy. The result is a clean-tasting, mineral-rich flake that perfectly complements the creamy chocolate.
Steve Russell, chocolatier at Russell & Atwell, shared, “Treating salt with as much care as our chocolate brings a unique depth and texture to the final product. Dorset Sea Salt adds clarity and a subtle crunch that truly elevates the experience. Our speedy sell-out shows how much customers loved it.”
Caleb Tennant, sales and marketing director at Dorset Sea Salt Co., emphasized the shared dedication to flavor and craftsmanship. “Partnering with Russell & Atwell has been incredibly rewarding. The fact that the entire microbatch vanished within a day demonstrates the magic of combining two handmade products.”
Prior to launch, both teams visited the Portland saltworks, reinforcing their shared passion for quality and artisanal methods — a partnership that clearly resonated with customers.
