On Tuesday, October 7, schools in Weston-super-Mare were placed on lockdown following reports of an armed man seen roaming the Mead Vale area. The alert came after a member of the public notified police about the suspicious individual.
In response, the North Somerset Neighbourhood Policing Team promptly advised schools to initiate lockdown procedures while conducting a thorough search of the surrounding vicinity. Extensive CCTV reviews and searches were carried out, ultimately finding no evidence of the armed man.
Police have stated that the call was made with good intent and that there is no perceived risk to the wider public.
