Rumors are swirling that British pop icon Sam Smith could be headlining the Glastonbury Festival in 2027, marking a return after a 12-year absence.
According to The Sun, Smith, who plans to release their new album “Hazel Eyes” on August 21, has been invited to headline the Other Stage at Worthy Farm in Pilton, Somerset. This would be their first headline appearance at the festival since 2015.
A source told The Sun, “Sam has been invited to go back to Glastonbury as a headliner on the Other Stage. It’s been over a decade since Sam’s last headline spot there, and it’s well overdue. Festival boss Emily Eavis has already secured many incredible acts, and Sam could be one of them if the stars align.”

Smith recently surprised Glastonbury audiences in 2024 with a guest performance alongside Disclosure on The Other Stage, performing their 2013 hit “Latch.” The anticipated headline set would be an exciting precursor to Smith’s other upcoming shows in 2027, including an eight-date residency at London’s Coliseum from September 8 to 19 and two concerts at Manchester’s Albert Hall earlier that month.
In addition to their own performances, Sam Smith is collaborating with BBC Radio 1’s New Music Show with Jack Saunders to spotlight emerging artists. Musicians can submit their work via BBC Introducing’s Uploader starting next Wednesday, tagging submissions with “Sam Smith.” The deadline to apply is August 5.
Reflecting on the initiative, Smith said, “It’s exciting to be part of this new initiative. The discovery process for artists is so important, and being able to play a part in that is fantastic.”
