Pop sensation Sam Ryder surprised Glastonbury train passengers by delivering a spontaneous live acoustic concert on his journey from London Paddington to the Glastonbury Festival. Known for his hit song “Space Man,” Sam swapped the festival’s Avalon Stage for a train carriage, transforming the ride into an unforgettable experience.
Taking over the conductor’s microphone, Sam mingled with passengers, making playful announcements before launching into an energetic set. As the train sped through the countryside, the carriage transformed into an intimate concert venue filled with applause and singalongs, featuring festival favourites and some of Sam’s personal hits.
This unique performance was part of the ‘I came by train’ campaign, supported by Trainline, which promotes train travel as a sustainable, enjoyable way to reach major summer events like Glastonbury. Sam expressed his enthusiasm for the initiative, saying, “The energy on that train was unreal. ‘I came by train’ is all about doing something good for the planet — and having a great time doing it.”

Earlier this week, Sam Ryder was also honoured as the face of the campaign with the introduction of the ‘Train Ryder’ train at London Paddington station. Signed by Sam himself, this train will operate throughout the summer, encouraging festivalgoers to make low-carbon travel choices.
