A dog, identified as Buddy, was tragically discovered tied to a weight and drowned in the River Avon in Somerset. The shocking incident occurred in the Weston area of Bath on Friday, March 7.
Buddy, a black and brown Jagdterrier, had a rope around his neck which was connected to a weight at the time of discovery. The animal had been deceased for an estimated 24 to 48 hours before being found.
Following a report from a concerned citizen, the RSPCA has initiated an investigation into the circumstances leading to the dog’s demise. The charity is seeking assistance from anyone who may have encountered Buddy from Saturday, March 1 onwards.

RSPCA Inspector Dan Hatfield, who retrieved Buddy’s body from the river, expressed, “Buddy was intentionally killed in a heartless and gruesome way, and we’re keen to find out who was responsible and bring them to justice. We urge anyone with pertinent information to come forward and help us in this pursuit."
The RSPCA has set up an appeal line (0300 123 8018, quoting incident number 01464178) for individuals to share any relevant details anonymously.
