Royal Oak Pub: A Real Beer Haven

The Royal Oak, a pub in Bath, has risen from the brink of closure to become a thriving establishment once again. Recognized by the Bath & Borders branch of CAMRA, the pub was awarded the prestigious title of Branch Pub of the Year for 2025. This accolade has further propelled the Royal Oak into the regional heats of CAMRA’s annual Pub of the Year competition.

Since its revival in 2005, the Royal Oak has actively contributed to the real ale scene, boasting a selection of eight real ales, including brews from its own Ralph’s Ruin brewery at the rear of the pub. Embracing the ethos of fostering conversations, the pub proudly provides no WiFi facilities.

Through its commitment to craft beer, the pub has earned a place in every edition of the Good Beer Guide since 2007 and has received numerous awards, including the City Pub of the Year on multiple occasions.

Having successfully incorporated Ralph’s Ruin brewery into its operation, the Royal Oak regularly features tap takeovers, showcasing a diverse array of both their own and guest beers, along with ciders, perries, and bottled British and Belgian beers.

In recognition of their achievement, the landlord, Chris Powell, and his team were honored by Bath & Borders CAMRA. The pub’s unwavering dedication to offering a wide range of well-kept beers has solidified its status as a beer haven in the region.
