The Royal Bath and West Show is making a highly anticipated return this May, promising an unforgettable experience for visitors of all ages. Taking place from Wednesday, May 29 to Friday, May 31 at the Shepton Mallet showground in Somerset, this historic event has been a staple in the region for 160 years and remains Somerset’s biggest show.
A standout feature of the show is the ever-popular Lakeside Farm, offering a vibrant, hands-on exploration of rural life. Visitors can engage directly with farmers, discover where their food comes from, and enjoy a variety of interactive exhibits—from petting animals, including a Highland cow and her calf, to sampling fresh milk, cheese, and other farm produce. Sue Sealey, Lakeside Farm steward, emphasizes how this unique attraction bridges the gap between consumers and agriculture, offering a chance to ask farmers questions and learn about farming firsthand.
This year, poultry enthusiasts have something special to look forward to, with an extensive egg display, numerous poultry breeds, and exciting section competitions. Richard Cornock, known online as The Funky Farmer, will bring his infectious energy to the event as the judge of the novelty egg competition. Richard’s presence highlights the show’s mission to connect the public with the realities, challenges, and passion inherent in farming.
