This summer, the Roman Baths in Bath transforms into a captivating evening destination with its new Summer Lates series. Running from July 21 through August 31, this six-week event offers nightly torchlit openings, live music, and a pop-up bar, allowing visitors to experience the historic site in a fresh and enchanting way.
Open until 8pm Monday through Thursday and extending to 10pm on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, and the August Bank Holiday Monday, guests can enjoy sipping wine beside the steaming waters, joining guided evening tours, and immersing themselves in live DJ sets and acoustic shows under flickering torchlight.
Councillor Paul Roper, cabinet member for economic and cultural sustainable development at Bath & North East Somerset Council, highlighted the initiative’s community and cultural significance: “The Roman Baths has always been a place of gathering, and Summer Lates reimagines that tradition in a modern way. By introducing live music into this extraordinary setting, we’re creating new ways for people to connect with the site and with each other. Bath & North East Somerset Council is proud to support cultural experiences that celebrate our heritage while embracing fresh ideas.”

On Fridays and Saturdays, visitors can enjoy vinyl DJ sets curated by Bath Carnival and POLYMATHIC, featuring artists such as Beavs (Void Bristol), Buckley (Bacana Funk), and Monobrow (Sound Records). The music ranges from Latin jazz and rare grooves to global beats, setting a laid-back ambiance.
Sunday evenings take on a more acoustic vibe, with live performances curated by the 7 Hills Festival. Folk, classical crossover, and singer-songwriter acts—including Our Man in the Field, Hayden Thorpe, and Izzie Yardley—will serenade guests around the Great Bath.
Music sessions run from 5:30pm to 9pm on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, carefully designed to complement the historic atmosphere without overwhelming it.
Developed in collaboration with Bath Arts Collective, Bath Carnival, POLYMATHIC, and 7 Hills Festival, the Summer Lates programme seamlessly blends Bath’s vibrant contemporary arts with one of the UK’s most iconic heritage landmarks.
To support the evening experience, the city has extended Park & Ride hours until 11:30pm from Monday to Saturday, making it more convenient for visitors to attend.
