Excitement is building as Rivals season 2 approaches, with Disney+ fans eager to see what unfolds for Taggie O’Hara (Bella Maclean) and Rupert Campbell-Black (Alex Hassell). After finally confessing their feelings and sharing a kiss at the close of season 1, the newest trailer suggests their romance might face serious challenges.
In the trailer, Taggie tells Rupert, “You’re not capable of love,” signaling upcoming tension. Additionally, a brief but revealing glance shows Taggie sharing a knowing smile with another character—hinting at a possible new romantic twist.
This speculation was fueled further during a recent exclusive Q&A screening of season 2, where cast members discussed their characters’ futures. Luke Pasqualino, who plays Basil “Bas” Baddingham, half-brother to Tony Baddingham (David Tennant), teased some potential developments involving his character and Taggie.

When asked if there might be something brewing between Bas and Taggie, Luke thoughtfully replied, “Who wouldn’t look at Taggie the way Bas looks at her? She’s incredibly sweet, beautiful, and composed, even if she’s a bit brooding over Mr. Campbell-Black. Given Bas’s self-perception as a bit of a Lothario, why not gaze over Taggie?”
While Luke stopped short of confirming any romance, he acknowledged that exploring this relationship would be “definitely interesting,” leaving fans intrigued.
As series 2 unfolds in the picturesque fictional Cotswolds village of Rutshire, the battle for the Central South West television franchise intensifies between Corinium and Venturer. Tony Baddingham, more ruthless than ever, employs scandal and manipulation to undermine his rivals and consolidate power.
Against the backdrop of 1980s hedonism, personal dramas escalate: marriages strain under ambition’s pressure; illicit affairs threaten to unravel families; and deeply buried secrets emerge with explosive impact. Loyalties will be tested, hearts broken, and the true cost of this fierce rivalry revealed.
The first three episodes of Rivals season 2 will premiere Friday, May 15, on Disney+.
