Yeovil Town manager Billy Rowley expressed great pride after his team secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory against Kidderminster Harriers. The winning goal came from Johl Powell, who came off the bench to calmly slot the ball past the goalkeeper four minutes after replacing Zain Westbrooke, following a precise through ball from Slavi Spasov.
Despite Kidderminster creating several chances, with goalkeeper Jos Barker making crucial saves, Yeovil maintained their composure and defensive solidity to claim all three points.
Rowley described Kidderminster as “a really tough opponent” and acknowledged that the result was decided by “one or two moments” during the match. He praised his players' resilience and determination, stating, “I’m so proud of the boys to win in this fashion. Loads of positives to take from it.”

The Yeovil manager also singled out Powell for his composure and finishing ability, reflecting on the midfielder’s development since his youth. “I’ve seen Johl do that since he was 12 years old, he’s so hungry for a goal,” Rowley said. “He’s a superb finisher.”
Highlighting the defensive efforts, particularly during the periods when Kidderminster applied pressure in the second half, Rowley noted the importance of a “good goalkeeper performance,” a “really resilient defensive display,” and “one top finishing moment” that decided the match.
He described the game as “a real bitty game” with plenty of stop-start play, acknowledging the physicality of Kidderminster and praising how his side managed those challenges.
Looking ahead, Rowley suggested there is room for improvement despite the victory. He encouraged his players to show more grit, organisation, and passion. “If we can improve our small nuts and bolts then we can be a real top team,” he added.
Yeovil Town now prepare for a busy week with two home matches at Huish Park, starting on Tuesday against National League newcomers Worthing, as they continue to build momentum under Rowley’s leadership.
