Mika, a gentle five-year-old Akita, has spent more than 500 days patiently waiting for a loving family to adopt her. Rescued by RSPCA Inspectors from a difficult situation alongside three other dogs, Mika has endured a long journey marked by past injuries caused by her former owner.
Now cared for by the dedicated team at RSPCA Brent Knoll Animal Centre, Mika has watched many other dogs find new homes, yet she remains at the shelter, hopeful for a fresh start. Despite her strong and powerful stature, Mika is a true cuddle enthusiast who adores human companionship.
Katy Darelli, Animal Centre Manager, shares, “Mika is often overlooked, but she’s a big-hearted, affectionate dog who just wants to be loved. She’s seen so many of her friends find their perfect families, and it breaks our hearts to think she might spend longer in kennels. We’re eager for anyone who can provide her the right home to meet her—once they do, they’ll be smitten.”

Mika’s ideal home would be one where she is the only pet, as she needs to be exercised away from other dogs. She would also be a wonderful companion for families with children aged secondary school and up.

In addition, RSPCA Brent Knoll Animal Centre is hosting a Summer Jazz Afternoon on Sunday, 1 June. Featuring live music from The Swing Jazz Project Band, this event aims to raise funds to support rescue animals like Mika. The celebration will be held in a marquee on the centre’s grounds.
