Residents in Chard now have a more sustainable option for dealing with broken household items, thanks to the fortnightly Repair Hub initiated by Chard Community Hub. The dedicated team of volunteers at the Repair Hub is committed to fixing damaged goods, from faulty electrical appliances to wobbly furniture, promoting a greener lifestyle and reducing waste. Sessions are held every other Saturday morning and also accept drop-offs during regular opening hours.
The Repair Hub encourages a culture of repair and reuse, offering to mend items in return for a donation. The initiative also includes safety checks for electrical appliances to ensure they are safe for use. Volunteer Adam, who spearheaded the project, aims to help people save money by repairing simple faults rather than replacing items with new ones.
In line with Earth Month, the Repair Hub is part of Chard Community Hub’s broader efforts to increase environmental awareness and promote sustainable practices to build community resilience.
