The music community in Wells was left heartbroken in late September following the sudden passing of James Wilson, a talented young musician aged just 28.
James, a native of Wells, was widely known and deeply loved within the local scene. Alongside his brother Tom, he was a key member of the rising band AIRFLO. The band’s vibrant sound had already captured the attention of both local and national radio audiences, marking them as a promising act on the rise.
In tribute to James’s passion for music and his generous spirit, a fundraising page has been established to support music lessons for children at The Blue School in Wells. The response has been overwhelming, with nearly £9,000 raised so far and heartfelt tributes pouring in from friends, fans, and fellow musicians who admired James’s talent and kindness.

Tom Wilson, James’s brother and bandmate, is spearheading a special memorial concert in his honor. He shared: “My big brother and bandmate James Wilson suddenly passed away in September. To celebrate his life and legacy, we have organized a charity gig at Studio 24, Wells on Saturday, December 13. All proceeds will go directly to the James Wilson Fund for musical education at The Blue School.”
The family’s tribute on the fundraising page poignantly captures James’s essence: “Our beloved son and brother James died suddenly on 28th September 2025 at the age of 28. He was a sparkling storyteller, a mesmerising mimic, and a truly magnificent musician. James had been inseparable from his guitar since he was a young boy, using creative composition and passionate performance to move everyone he encountered. He was an extraordinary soul who enriched our lives beyond words and inspired confidence and kindness in others.”
They continue: “In memory of James, we invite donations to help young people at The Blue School in Wells discover their own musical potential. Every contribution helps open doors to creativity and self-expression for children from all backgrounds.”
In addition to the December 13 memorial gig at Studio 24, AIRFLO will soon perform a sell-out show at the iconic Louisiana in Bristol, a testament to the band’s growing success and James’s enduring legacy.
James Wilson’s music and spirit live on, inspiring future generations through the power of song.
