The Sidmouth Regatta Airshow is set to make a triumphant return this August, with the iconic Red Arrows announced as the headline act. Scheduled for Friday, August 22, the airshow promises to be a highlight of the Sidmouth Regatta Weekend, captivating crowds with a stunning array of aerial performances.
Kicking off the late afternoon event, the Sidmouth Lifeboat will demonstrate the capabilities of their Arctic 24 Lifeboat and Sea Rider RIB, providing a thrilling showcase of maritime rescue technology. There is also potential for Exmouth Lifeboat to participate, adding to the maritime theme of the afternoon.
The airborne excitement continues with Rich Goodwin in his modified Pitts Biplane, powered by twin ATM Lynx Jet turbines delivering an impressive 700lbs of thrust. Rich’s dynamic display will set the stage for the AeroSuperbatics Wing Walkers Duo, who will be making their Sidmouth debut. Performing daring aerobatics aboard vintage 1940s Boeing Stearman biplanes, the wingwalkers will execute breathtaking maneuvers while expertly balancing atop the wings.

The grand finale will feature the legendary Red Arrows, the Royal Air Force Aerobatic Team known worldwide for their precision flying and spectacular formations. Representing the pinnacle of RAF excellence, the Red Arrows’ performance is sure to enchant audiences and embody the spirit of British aviation prowess.
Sidmouth Town Council is currently seeking volunteer collectors to support the event by gathering donations along the seafront and key locations such as Salcombe and Peak Hills and Connaught Gardens from 4pm on the day. Volunteers play an essential role in making the airshow possible, and those interested are encouraged to reach out at [email protected].
Attendees can expect additional parking on the day and should note that a water safety zone will be established to ensure safe viewing from watercraft.
Beyond the airshow, the Sidmouth Regatta Weekend will feature a variety of exciting activities including sailing and gig racing, surf life-saving events, and the return of the popular Raft Race. Festivities will culminate in a grand musical fireworks display on Saturday evening, lighting up the night sky over the seaside town.
