A rare and exquisite silver ‘coffee Biggin,’ crafted by renowned British silversmith Paul Storr and dating back to 1803, is expected to fetch up to £6,000 at auction. This elegant piece of history will be featured in a two-day specialist sale of silver, jewellery, and watches held by Charterhouse Auctioneers in Sherborne. Richard Bromell, a representative of the auction house, expressed that the coffee Biggin would have been a luxurious addition to any country house’s breakfast table during the Regency period.
Uncovered after being stored in a vintage suitcase for over 25 years, this remarkable find, along with other silver pieces, will go under the hammer in Dorset. The discovery of the coffee Biggin, wrapped in old newspaper, has stirred significant interest due to its association with the renowned silversmith Storr, who was known for creating exquisite and sought-after pieces for royalty and the aristocracy.
