Ramblers Carnival Club Triumphs with Moving Miners' Tribute at Bridgwater Guy Fawkes Carnival Concert

This year’s Bridgwater Guy Fawkes Carnival Concerts culminated in a heartfelt tribute to the British miners' struggle for fair wages, which captured the top award amidst a dazzling lineup of regional performances during a fortnight of sold-out shows.

Ramblers Carnival Club claimed the coveted White Hart Cup as overall stage champions with their poignant theatrical piece, All Out Together. The dramatic and moving performance celebrated the historic campaign of miners fighting for improved pay, resonating deeply with audiences.

Renegades Carnival Club, last year’s White Hart Cup winners, took second place as well as the Elizabeth Ann James Cup with Emerald City. Their vibrant musical journey through the Land of Oz featured dazzling tunes and elaborate costumes that enchanted viewers.

Close behind, Gremlins Carnival Club earned third place and the Barrie Lintern Trophy for Return of the Dragon Warriors, a grand narrative set in an Oriental village celebrating the triumphant return of heroic warriors.

The remaining placements were: Vagabonds (4), British Flag (5), Lime Kiln (6), Griffens (7), Wills (8), Marketeers (9), Cavaliers (10), Crusaders (11), and Centurian (12).

Additionally, Wills Carnival Club secured the Sam Hooper Cup for the highest-ranking tableau entry with a compelling depiction of the Titanic’s ill-fated maiden Atlantic voyage.

Bridgwater Guy Fawkes Carnival President Dave Creedy showered praise on all participants and support teams. “The talent and dedication of every club member and performer striving for excellence were evident throughout the fortnight,” he remarked. “I commend everyone involved, from behind the scenes to the front-of-house teams. With this year’s shows selling out faster than ever, no attendee could leave disappointed.”

The Athletic Sports Cup for best vocal performance by two or more singers was awarded to The Vixens, while solo vocalist Phoebe Wever received the Judges Cup for exceptional individual performance.
