Castle Primary School in Keynsham has been nationally recognised for fostering a nurturing, calm environment that supports children’s emotional wellbeing, aided by the presence of two beloved school dogs.
The school has been awarded the Thrive Ambassador School status with Excellence in Environment for the first time, honouring its commitment to promoting mental health through thoughtfully designed learning spaces and effective wellbeing initiatives.
Key features praised include dedicated calming areas within classrooms, giving pupils safe spaces to manage their emotions, as well as the invaluable support provided by school dogs Bobbi and Benjo. The dogs play a crucial role in boosting pupils’ confidence and self-esteem, helping to create a positive and supportive atmosphere throughout the school.

Co-headteacher Kelly Sessions expressed her delight at the award, saying, “We are absolutely thrilled to receive the Thrive Ambassador Award. Castle Primary is part of The Partnership Trust, a multi-academy trust overseeing several primary, first, and special schools across Bath & North East Somerset and Somerset.
