Proposed Developments in Bath and North East Somerset and North Somerset

In Bath and North East Somerset and North Somerset, various planning applications have recently been submitted for consideration. Notable proposals include a village’s plan to install solar panels on its village hall, a new house in a suburban area, and an application to set up a house in multiple occupation (HMO) on a sought-after Bath crescent.

Every week, these adjacent unitary authorities receive numerous planning applications, with some of the most intriguing ones highlighted here. These applications are available for public inspection on the respective council’s website, and while most will be decided by planning officers, significant or contentious ones may go before the planning committee composed of elected councillors.

The village of East Harptree in North East Somerset is seeking approval to install solar panels on its village hall. This initiative, supported by the parish council, aims to reduce costs for the hall’s users and contribute to lowering the parish’s carbon footprint. In addition to applying for funding, the village hall committee is also actively raising funds for the project.

In North Somerset, a proposal for a new detached four-bedroom house on a tranquil suburban road has been put forward. The development plan emphasizes the preservation of surrounding trees and outlines specific hours for construction activities to minimize disturbance, demonstrating consideration for the local community.

Further, a change of use application has been made in Bath and North East Somerset to convert a maisonette on Widcombe Crescent into an HMO. While HMOs are often linked with student accommodation, this proposal aims to let the maisonette to multiple individuals not forming a single household.

These diverse planning applications reflect the ongoing development and evolution of infrastructure and housing in the area.
