Property Closed by Court Order Amid Drug and Anti-Social Behaviour Concerns

A property on Bridewell Street in Devizes has been officially closed under a court order due to persistent issues involving drug activity and anti-social behaviour. Swindon Magistrates granted a three-month closure order on June 25, following mounting concerns from local residents and evidence collected by police officers.

The closure restricts entry exclusively to the property’s occupants, emergency services, and housing association personnel. Any unauthorized individuals attempting to access the premises risk arrest under the terms of the order.

PC Crabbe emphasized the importance of such closure orders as effective tools for tackling problem properties: “Closure orders provide officers with legal authority to enter and intervene, helping to address ongoing anti-social behaviour. Our goal is to restore peace and safety for residents affected by these issues.”

Highlighting a community-focused approach, PC Crabbe added, “Policing today goes beyond simply maintaining a visible presence. We build trust and partnerships within communities to prevent crime and develop lasting solutions.”

Wiltshire Police will maintain regular patrols around the property at varied times throughout the day and night to ensure compliance. Residents are encouraged to report any concerns related to drug dealing or disruptive behaviour by calling 101, or 999 in emergencies.
