Professor Green Nearly Called Off Wedding to Millie Mackintosh

Professor Green has opened up about nearly calling off his wedding to Millie Mackintosh, admitting that both felt pressured to tie the knot despite underlying issues. The rapper, aged 41, and the Made in Chelsea star were married at Babington House in Somerset in 2013 but divorced three years later amid a difficult and public separation.

At the time, their breakup was marked by a series of social media exchanges where both parties made critical remarks about each other. Since then, they have moved on with their lives, starting families with new partners. Professor Green is currently in a relationship with actress Karima McAdams.

During a recent appearance on Jamie Laing’s Great Company podcast, Professor Green reflected on the challenges of his marriage, admitting: “There’s so no resentment. She is gorgeous, we were not good for each other at that time. We were at a point. Things we didn’t understand were happening and it was way more than we could have ever dealt with.”

He revealed that the decision to marry was heavily influenced by external pressure, saying, “If there was never that pressure, we would have never got married, that’s the truth. It very nearly didn’t happen.” Discussing his doubts, he recalled a conversation with close friends: “Am I getting cold feet? What’s going on here? One of them said yes. One of them said no. I made my own decision. We made our decision, and we didn’t get married for the wrong reasons. We loved each other. It was probably an element of trauma bonding.”

Professor Green further acknowledged shared responsibility in the marriage’s failure: “It takes a lot to get to a place of going, ‘I had a significant part in that, 50% at least, because there were two of us in the situation, and it didn’t work out.’ But hopefully we can both go forward and find happiness and belonging.”

Earlier this year, Millie Mackintosh also spoke openly about their relationship during an episode of the Getting There podcast. She described marrying young and feeling overwhelmed, saying she was “super young” and “a mess” at the time. On coping with a divorce under public eye, she shared, “I was incredibly anxious. I was barely eating. I was medicating with Xanax. It was a really hard time.”

Millie concluded by reflecting on their struggles. “I think we both were in our own struggles and I think we maybe both thought we could fix each other. But we couldn’t. And ultimately, we both had our own struggles, and it just magnified it. And it was actually quite toxic.”
