Princess Andre, the 18-year-old reality star, has opened up about the difficult experiences she faced growing up in her mother Katie Price’s infamous ‘Mucky Mansion’ in Sussex. Following the divorce of Katie Price, 47, and Peter Andre, 52, Princess spent much of her childhood in the expansive but troubled family home, which was often featured in the public eye.
In her new series, The Princess Diaries, Princess candidly shares how living in the ‘Mucky Mansion’ affected her emotionally. She described the house as a “really scary” place where “a lot went on,” contributing to feelings of discomfort and distress during her formative years. Katie’s unstable relationships, including her traumatic marriage to Kieran Hayler, compounded the difficulties Princess faced.
The property, showcased in Katie’s Channel 4 DIY reality show, was vacated last year after Katie was declared bankrupt for the second time. Both mother and daughter admit to hating the time spent there. Reflecting on those years, Princess said, “I guess when you have bad experiences somewhere, you don’t like the place.”
Throughout her series, Princess reveals that she witnessed things no child should and describes “dark times” growing up. She talks honestly about seeking counseling to cope with her past but often resorts to writing down her feelings, saying, “I do wish I could have had a happier childhood.”
Despite the challenges, Princess now maintains a more positive relationship with her mother, who recently moved into a new mansion after having to leave her rented home. Princess contrasts the atmospheres of her parents’ homes, noting, “Dad’s house is a lot quieter, a lot more peaceful, a lot more organised. Whereas my mum’s house is much more just do what you want… I love being in the middle. If I fancy a bit more chaotic, I’ll go to Mum’s; if I fancy more relaxed, I’ll go to Dad’s.”
