Andrew Stalbow and his group of investors are optimistic about taking control of Bath City Football Club within the next month.
If the deal proceeds as planned, roughly £6 million raised from about 50 investors will be invested into the club.
All Bath City shareholders are invited to a ‘Town Hall meeting’ this evening (Thursday 14 August) at 7pm, held at the Cannon Clarke Stadium @ Twerton Park, where Stalbow and members of the investor team will discuss the proposal.

Current chairman David McDonagh expressed strong support for the proposal, stating, “The Board have no hesitation in recommending that all shareholders vote to accept this deal.” This sentiment is also shared by the Bath City Supporters’ Society.
“In Andrew and his team, we believe we have found excellent partners who possess not only the vision and ambition to elevate this club to a higher level but who have also already secured a significant amount of investment at an early stage,” McDonagh added. “We look forward to collaborating with Andrew and his group in the months ahead.”
Proposed chairman Andrew Stalbow, an entrepreneur with experience in mobile games and entertainment, conveyed his appreciation for the club.
“We have recognised that Bath City is an exceptional club in a beautiful city, supported by a remarkable community in Twerton and some of the best fans imaginable,” he said. “They have made considerable efforts to save the club.”
Stalbow explained that when exploring the opportunity, it became clear that a substantial capital investment was necessary to unlock the club’s potential.
“After discussions with various investors, it quickly became evident there was strong interest in this project,” he said.
The proposed new board will be led by Stalbow and include Richard Rivlin as Vice Chairman, Abdallah Yafi as President, and Director Ivan Hindshaw.
Among the notable investors is Bath-born Curt Smith, co-founder of Tears for Fears and lifelong football fan, who will serve as a club ambassador.
“Investment amounts vary, ranging from $15,000 up to $750,000,” Stalbow confirmed. “We are very confident about concluding the deal but remain cautious.”
He hopes the transaction will be completed in early September.
“The response so far has been overwhelmingly positive, with many recognising Bath City’s massive potential. It has been truly inspiring,” Stalbow remarked.
“We understand some shareholders still have questions, but we aim to demonstrate that the deal is well structured and safeguards the club’s interests.”
He praised the existing club staff, emphasising collaboration going forward.
“We will develop a comprehensive plan focusing on both immediate and long-term priorities.”
Long-term ambitions include developing the Cannon Clarke Stadium @ Twerton Park, the club’s home since 1932.
“We have no intention to relocate. The stadium’s location is ideal for creating a multi-purpose venue that can serve as a vibrant community hub,” Stalbow said.
He added that establishing a dedicated training facility is essential.
“Providing top-level training resources is the most significant factor in maximising player performance,” he explained.
Additionally, Stalbow intends to invest in advanced data systems for performance analysis and recruitment.
“I consulted a friend involved with Brentford FC who advised prioritising a robust football system supported by data insights to optimise player performance and smart recruitment,” he revealed.
On manager Scott Bartlett, appointed in March, Stalbow expressed strong confidence.
“We believe Scott is a manager ready for the Football League. We hold him in high regard,” he said.
Acknowledging the challenge posed by recent relegation, Stalbow assured that the manager would be supported with competitive resources.
“We will ensure Scott has the budget and tools necessary to build a strong squad and attract and retain quality players. Our goal is to be Football League ready, although we make no specific promises about timing.”
He also emphasised the importance of investing in the club’s women’s team.
“In the early stages, it is crucial to demonstrate responsible stewardship of the funds entrusted to us. We aim to invest wisely and earn the trust to grow further and involve more people in this journey,” Stalbow stated.
Members of the Bath City Supporters Society will vote on the acquisition proposal, with the results announced at a Special General Meeting on 21 August 2026.
The proposed transaction remains subject to shareholder approval and any necessary regulatory consents.
