Somerset’s fried chicken enthusiasts can rejoice as Popeyes makes its debut in Bristol. The beloved American fast-food chain will be setting up shop in Avondale on Friday (April 11), offering up crispy, flavorful dishes and a chance to score complimentary meals for an entire year.
Anticipated queues are expected to form as devotees of the Louisiana-based brand eagerly await their turn to step inside. The first four pedestrians and four cars utilizing the restaurant’s park-and-serve bays will be treated to free chicken for an entire year.
The new establishment will become the fourth Popeyes location in the South West, joining existing branches in Exeter, Plymouth, and Gloucester.

Tom Crowley, the chief executive of Popeyes UK, expressed excitement about the new location, stating: “This part of Bristol is a fantastic opportunity for us. We’ve been scouting around Bristol for quite some time in search of the best locations, and when this opportunity arose, we knew we had to seize it. We have additional locations planned for Bristol, such as in Clifton and Longwell Green, but this location felt perfect for our first store due to its great neighborhood. Being from Bristol, I am familiar with this area very well.”
Crowley assured customers that they can look forward to the “very best fried chicken in the world,” emphasizing: “We’ve been successfully operating for four years with 75 locations across the UK already, and we’ve been warmly received wherever we’ve gone. We tend to have extremely long lines for the first couple of weeks. We hope the people of Bristol and the South West appreciate what we have to offer.”
He explained that extensive planning was undertaken to ensure a flawless launch and that staff training had been ongoing for at least a week leading up to the grand opening.
He further added: “We have the highly acclaimed chicken sandwich that broke the internet, crafted with fresh ingredients, coated in flour twenty times for the perfect crunch, shallow fried for that shatter-crunch texture, and featuring an array of phenomenal components including pickles and a fresh bun.”
