Avon and Somerset Police have appealed to the public to prioritise their own safety while assisting in the search for George, an 18-year-old reported missing from Portishead.
George was last seen near Woodlands Road, close to the beach, at approximately 8:20pm on Thursday, 17 September. Authorities have noted that he may appear disorientated and confused.
Detective Chief Inspector James Wasiak expressed gratitude towards those who have volunteered to help but emphasised the importance of caution. “We appreciate the efforts of the public in supporting us during this search,” he said. “However, we ask that no one put themselves at risk by crossing hazardous mudflats, navigating rocky terrain, or venturing into high areas. Our specialist search teams are trained and equipped to handle these challenging conditions.”

Police continue to encourage anyone with information or who was in the vicinity, particularly those walking along the beach around the time George disappeared, to come forward. They are especially interested in speaking with a man believed to have been near the area who may have seen or talked with George.
George is described as a white male, approximately 5ft 7ins tall, with short brown hair. He was last seen wearing a black hoodie, black jogging bottoms, and orange and grey shoes. He has connections to both Clevedon and Portishead and was travelling on foot when he went missing.
The police remain in close contact with George’s family, who are understandably anxious to have him returned safely.
