Police Update Following Dangerous M5 Driving Incident

A man has been arrested on suspicion of several offences after a driver was allegedly spotted swerving dangerously at high speed on the M5 motorway.

The incident involved a Ford Focus ST traveling southbound between junction 16 (Almondsbury) and junction 21 (Weston-super-Mare) on Sunday, June 7, between 10:30 am and 11:00 am.

Avon and Somerset Police have conducted CCTV reviews, intelligence checks, and collected witness statements as part of their ongoing investigation.

The arrested individual, a man in his 30s, faces charges including dangerous driving, driving over the alcohol limit, and possession of a Class A drug. He has been released under investigation pending further inquiries.

Police are appealing to anyone who was driving in the area at the time and may have dashcam footage capturing the vehicle or the incident to come forward.
