Police Provide Update After Teen Girl Seriously Injured in High-Speed Chase Crash

A 14-year-old girl remains hospitalized with serious injuries following a collision during a police chase on Sunday, February 1.

Wiltshire Police pursued a suspected stolen vehicle between Chippenham and Lacock on the A350. The stolen vehicle, driven by 34-year-old Patrick McCann of Walnut Avenue, Hillingdon, collided with a Volkswagen Transporter, resulting in the teenager being critically hurt.

The injured girl was rushed to Southmead Hospital and continues to receive treatment. Authorities confirmed that McCann appeared at Swindon Magistrates Court on February 3, facing several charges. These include failing to stop when instructed by police, causing serious injury by dangerous driving, escaping lawful custody, breaching a court order, and taking a vehicle without consent.

McCann did not enter a plea and was remanded in custody. His next court hearing is scheduled for March 6 at Swindon Crown Court.
