Police Officer Found Guilty of Misconduct at Boxing Event

A former police officer’s behavior at a boxing event led to his dismissal and a finding of gross misconduct. Off-duty police constable Remi Damiani, of Dorset Police, was kicked out of the event for being drunk and shouting obscenities at door staff and colleagues. He also attempted to use his police status to regain entry and was accused of sexually touching a woman known to him that night.

At a public misconduct hearing at Dorset Police Headquarters, the panel found Damiani guilty of breaching professional behavior standards relating to Authority, Respect and Courtesy, Discreditable Conduct, and Discreditable Conduct. The panel determined that his behavior towards the woman was inappropriate, unwanted, and likely to bring discredit upon the police service.

Deputy Chief Constable Rachel Farrell expressed disappointment in Damiani’s actions and emphasized the force’s commitment to upholding high professional standards. She urged the public to report any unethical or unacceptable behavior by members of the police force.
