Police in Bath have increased patrols after an 11-year-old girl was sexually assaulted near a local park. The incident occurred around 5 p.m. on Wednesday, June 24, in a wooded area close to the Clarks Way playground in the Odd Down neighborhood.
Avon and Somerset Police’s dedicated rape and serious sexual offences team, Operation Bluestone, is leading the investigation. The suspect is described as a white male in his thirties or forties, notably bearing a distinctive neck tattoo. At the time of the attack, he was wearing a t-shirt, shorts, and a cap.
Officers are actively reviewing CCTV footage and conducting house-to-house inquiries in the vicinity. Specialized support teams are providing ongoing assistance and updates to the victim and her family.

Detective Inspector Hannah Marsh emphasized the gravity of the situation, stating, “This is an incredibly serious incident. We are deploying significant resources to identify the offender and urge anyone who noticed suspicious behavior or recognizes the suspect to come forward.”
Neighbourhood officers are maintaining heightened presence in the area and will continue regular patrols in the coming days to ensure community safety.
