Police Increase Patrols After Sexual Assault of 11-Year-Old Girl Near Bath Park

Avon and Somerset Police have intensified patrols in the Odd Down area of Bath after an 11-year-old girl was sexually assaulted near Clarks Way playground on the evening of Wednesday, June 24.

The incident occurred in a wooded area close to the playground at approximately 5 pm. The investigation is being led by the Avon and Somerset Police’s rape and serious sexual offences team, known as Operation Bluestone.

Detectives have described the suspect as a white male in his thirties or forties, distinguished by a noticeable neck tattoo. At the time of the assault, he was reportedly wearing a t-shirt, shorts, and a cap.

Police are meticulously examining available CCTV footage and conducting door-to-door inquiries to gather any information that may help identify the offender.

Specially trained officers are providing ongoing support to the victim and her family, ensuring they are kept informed throughout the investigation.

Detective Inspector Hannah Marsh emphasized the seriousness of the case, stating, “We have deployed significant resources to this investigation and are prioritizing efforts to locate the individual responsible. We urge anyone who witnessed suspicious behavior in the area around the time of the incident or recognizes the description to come forward.”

Additional neighborhood patrols will continue in the vicinity over the coming days to enhance community safety.
