Police Discover Massive Cannabis Operation in Bath

A large, ‘sophisticated’ cannabis factory has been uncovered in an abandoned property in Bath. Avon and Somerset Police revealed that they found around 1,000 suspected cannabis plants in the facility.

The discovery came after officers received a tip about the grow while searching for a missing person in the city. A concerned member of the public approached them, reporting people entering and exiting the abandoned property. Upon investigation, officers noticed a strong cannabis odor emanating from the building.

A drone survey of the area indicated signs of a grow. Following this, Avon and Somerset Police obtained a drugs warrant, which was executed in the early hours of Thursday, November 23. More than 1,000 suspected cannabis plants were found, along with a sophisticated cultivation setup.

Inspector Ziyad Asfour commended the proactive policing, stating, “This was a commendable piece of proactive policing from our patrol team. We are grateful to the member of the public for bringing their concerns to our attention. The discovery has effectively averted potential harm to the Bath community by keeping drugs off the streets."

He went on to emphasize, “It is not only the cultivation and sale of cannabis that constitutes a crime, but also the various associated offenses linked to drugs. Anti-social behavior, theft, assault, and more are just a few instances we observe in connection with drugs. We will conduct a comprehensive investigation to identify those involved."

Avon and Somerset Police are now seeking information about the grow in Windsor Bridge Road. The public is urged to contact the force on 101 and provide the reference number 5223286254 or complete the online appeals form if they can assist in the investigation.

Bath Commander CI Scott Hill remarked, “This is a prime example of our effective collaboration with the Bath community and surrounding areas to report suspicious activities. This enables us to gather intelligence to safeguard the public and hold accountable those involved in criminal activities. We are unwavering in our efforts to combat drug supply in Bath and rely on public support to achieve these objectives."
