Police Car Collides Near M4; Woman Hospitalized

A woman was hospitalized on Wednesday, June 3, following a collision between a marked police car and a black Mini Cooper on the A350 near Chippenham, Wiltshire.

The crash occurred shortly after midday on the northbound carriageway between Malmesbury Roundabout and the M4. Emergency services responded promptly to the scene.

The Mini Cooper was carrying two occupants, both in their 70s. The female passenger sustained injuries serious enough to require hospital treatment, though police confirm her condition is neither life-threatening nor life-changing. The driver was examined by paramedics and released at the scene.

The police vehicle, which had a single officer onboard responding to an incident at the time, was also involved in the collision. The officer was assessed on-site and discharged without serious injury.

Following the incident, the A350 was temporarily closed for investigation but has since reopened. No arrests have been made in connection with the collision.

Due to the circumstances surrounding the crash, Wiltshire Police have referred the case to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) for review.
