A man was arrested on Monday evening in connection with an ongoing investigation into an alleged rape that occurred at Victoria Park in Taunton. Avon & Somerset Police launched the inquiry after members of the public discovered a woman in distress at approximately 5 a.m. on Saturday, October 11.
Following a public appeal for information, police apprehended a suspect at around 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Detective Sergeant Wendy Fellowes expressed gratitude toward those who came forward with information, emphasizing that although an arrest has been made, the investigation is still in its early stages.
She urged the public to refrain from posting speculation online that could potentially compromise any future prosecution.

The victim is currently receiving specialist support to assist her through this difficult time.
