Plans Unveiled for New £7 Million Aldi Supermarket in Frome

Frome could soon welcome a new £7 million Aldi supermarket, with plans set to replace the current site of The Range on Wessex Fields. The proposed development aims to revitalize the area by creating a modern retail space featuring a new Aldi store alongside a second, yet-to-be-announced retail outlet.

Aldi promises that the project will generate approximately 40 local jobs, offering wages above the National Living Wage, as well as additional temporary construction roles. The plans also include 200 parking spaces to accommodate customers.

Elliott Saunders, Aldi’s Real Estate Director, expressed enthusiasm about the project: “We are delighted to bring forward these proposals for a new Aldi store in Frome. This investment would provide high-quality, affordable food shopping for local residents, create new jobs paid at market-leading rates, and regenerate an existing retail site sustainably.”

Importantly, the development will not affect the adjoining Halfords store, which will remain operational during and after construction.

Residents are encouraged to review the plans and submit their feedback online by Sunday, May 31, to help shape the final proposal.
