Wick Farm, a cherished wedding venue nestled on the A366 Trowbridge Road in Farleigh Hungerford, Somerset, may soon introduce six glamping pods to its picturesque grounds. Managed by Chris and Jess McCullagh, the venue is centrally located, equally accessible from Bath, Frome, Radstock and Trowbridge.
Famous for hosting weddings within its historic 14th-century threshing barns, Wick Farm also offers clay pigeon shooting and an array of other events. The couple has submitted an application to Somerset Council seeking approval to add the glamping pods south of the main venue, with a decision anticipated before Christmas.
The proposed pods would be accessed via an existing road connected to the venue’s main entrance, featuring five standard parking spaces alongside two designated disabled bays. Each pod is designed to include a single bedroom-offering either single or double beds-a comfortable living area, a kitchenette equipped with a sink basin and hob, and a separate bathroom. Additionally, each pod would have a modest designated outdoor area, enabling guests to relax and appreciate the tranquillity of the natural surroundings.

AGM Planning Consultants, representing the McCullaghs, highlighted the appeal of Wick Farm’s balance between accessibility and seclusion. The consultant noted, “Clients are drawn to Wick Farm for its authentic countryside charm without the isolation of remote locations. This unique setting supports intimate and extended celebrations, with many couples expressing a desire to spend more time on-site with family and friends.”
The introduction of glamping pods is viewed as a natural progression to enhance the venue’s offerings. Currently, overnight accommodation is limited to a single one-bedroom annex primarily reserved for the wedding couple, which limits the ability to host multi-day or extended wedding celebrations popular in various cultures.
The addition of the pods aims to support longer stays, complementing Wick Farm’s existing facilities while maintaining its small-scale, rural character. Should the council grant permission, construction is expected to commence early next year.
Describing itself as “a family-run, beautifully restored medieval barn perfect for weddings, celebrations and private events,” Wick Farm continues to develop its reputation as a distinctive destination wedding venue amidst the serene Somerset countryside.
