Somerset Council has received plans for a new, high-quality care home on Marston Road, Frome. JLL Planning, representing Liberty Care Developments, has proposed a 76-bedroom residential care facility dedicated to meeting the complex needs of elderly residents.
The development includes well-designed communal gardens and a sensory garden to promote wellbeing. Inside, residents will have access to amenities such as a hair salon, activities room, and visitor lounge. Each bedroom will be equipped with en-suite wet room facilities, complemented by 24-hour nursing and specialist dementia care.
This application follows thorough pre-application consultations with Somerset Council. Liberty Care Developments has fine-tuned the design to ensure it fits harmoniously into the local environment, maintaining visual appeal while safeguarding neighboring properties and businesses.

Ashley Heath, Director of Liberty Care Developments, expressed enthusiasm about the project: “After detailed collaboration with Somerset Council, we’re pleased to submit an application that represents a best-in-class facility tailored to the needs of Frome residents.”
Addressing a pressing shortage of suitable care accommodation in Frome, the project aims to revitalize an underused site while delivering much-needed care beds. Additionally, it promises a significant boost to the local economy by creating 75 full-time equivalent jobs.
Adam Price, planning consultant at JLL, highlighted the importance of the proposal: “This development represents a sustainable and logical solution for providing high-quality care home options in Frome, where modern facilities are currently limited. As demand rises for elderly and dementia care, purpose-built homes like this are essential to meet the diverse needs of the community.”
