Detailed plans for the first 341 homes of the ambitious 2,500-home Ashton Park development on the outskirts of Trowbridge have been submitted to Wiltshire Council.
Persimmon Homes has filed a planning application outlining its proposal to build 161 houses in phase one. In a separate application, co-developer Barratt Homes has revealed plans for 145 houses, forming the second portion of this initial phase. Both developments are located on land north of West Ashton Road and east of Leap Gate.
Additionally, Charles Church, the premium housing brand under Persimmon Homes, has proposed 35 homes southwest of West Ashton Road in a third planning application.

Persimmon’s proposal includes 122 open-market homes: 11 two-bedroom, 91 three-bedroom, and 20 four-bedroom properties. The developer will also build 39 affordable homes, consisting of 21 two-bedroom and 18 three-bedroom units, strategically integrated throughout the scheme. The dwellings will be predominantly two- to two-and-a-half storeys in height.
Barratt Homes plans for its 145 houses to occupy the southwest corner of phase two, near West Ashton Road and Leap Gate, centered around the new local centre. The range includes two-bedroom terraces up to four-bedroom detached houses, with sizes between 614 and 1,317 square feet. Thirty affordable houses, ranging from 458 to 1,103 square feet, will be part of the scheme, featuring a mix of two-, two-and-a-half, and three-storey buildings.
Charles Church’s low-density estate adjacent to West Ashton village will feature two- and three-storey detached, semi-detached, and terraced homes, offering a premium housing option.
Wiltshire Council is expected to make decisions on these planning applications by December, marking a significant step forward for this major housing development.
