Picture-Perfect Bath Park Named One of the UK’s Best Green Spaces

Royal Victoria Park in Bath has been ranked among the top parks in the UK, earning praise for its peaceful atmosphere and stunning landscapes. Despite being dubbed a “hidden gem,” the park enjoys widespread popularity, especially as the country experiences a heatwave.

The ranking, conducted by idealo, evaluated over 50 UK parks based on visitor ratings, monthly Google search data, and social media activity on Instagram and TikTok.

Bath’s Royal Victoria Park secured seventh place in the list. Topping the ranking was London’s Richmond Park, renowned for its extensive open spaces and roaming deer.

Idealo highlighted Royal Victoria Park’s appeal: “Known for its peaceful atmosphere and beautifully maintained gardens, it’s a firm favourite among locals and visitors alike. With an impressive 4.5 out of 5 rating and 201,000 monthly Google searches, the park clearly attracts significant interest. Though it features in just over 2,000 Instagram posts and 15 TikTok videos, its true charm lies in its serene setting, establishing it as one of the UK’s most picturesque hidden gems.”

Established in 1830 by Princess Victoria, who was just 11 years old at the time, the park was originally a public pleasure garden. It was initially managed by affluent Bath residents and funded through voluntary contributions before the local council took over management in 1921.
