Emily Andre, NHS GP and wife of pop star Peter Andre, has delivered a candid response regarding the idea of having more children. The 36-year-old mother of three revealed the harrowing health battle she faced shortly after the birth of their youngest daughter, Arabella, in 2024.
Emily experienced a rare and severe form of hernia that she vividly described as her “bowels fell out.” This condition, which doctors warned could become a life-threatening emergency, required urgent surgery just a week after Arabella’s birth. The ordeal left a lasting impact on Emily and ultimately influenced her decision about expanding her family.
During an appearance on The Therapy Crouch podcast with hosts Peter Crouch and Abbey Clancy, Emily recounted the distressing experience that changed everything. When asked if she plans to have more children, Emily was unwavering: “A hundred percent done.”

She explained, “This time I had quite a difficult time after she was born. I had to have emergency surgery. She was only a week old, and she was being prised from my arms — it was horrible.” Emily shared that the doctors explicitly advised against another pregnancy, warning the hernia could worsen and cause serious complications if she became pregnant again. “That was enough for me,” she said.
Peter Andre echoed his concern, sharing, “I have never, ever seen you like that before, I was really worried.” He praised Emily’s strength and resilience throughout the ordeal.
Emily’s case was so unusual that doctors told her they had “never seen anything like” it. In a previous interview, she detailed the severity of the hernia: part of her bowels had shifted in the wrong place, posing a risk of strangulation—a medical emergency. She recalled noticing a large, painful lump on her abdomen shortly after giving birth, which prompted doctors to rush her into surgery.
Despite the challenges, Emily found comfort in a touching moment before her surgery. She shared on the Happy Mum Happy Baby podcast how a porter reminded her of a meaningful connection — the same theatre where her husband Peter had been treated years ago by her father, who is also a surgeon. “It was just such a nice moment… a really nice thing,” she reflected.
Ultimately, Emily Andre’s ordeal has solidified her decision to focus on the family she has, prioritizing health and stability after a deeply frightening experience.
