Peter Andre’s latest film, Jafaican, offers more than just an action-packed heist; it carries a hidden message that many viewers might initially overlook.
In this new project, Andre plays Gary Buckle, a lovable but hapless crook who impersonates Jamaican gangster Denton ‘Kill Man’ Powell in a daring attempt to steal millions to help his grandmother. Andre describes the film as a nostalgic throwback to 90s comedy, packed with humour and heart.
Speaking exclusively to Daily Star, Andre shared, “When you watch the film, you realise that all this is a love story hidden under a heist.” He expressed his enjoyment of the role, saying, “Honestly, I loved playing the character of Gary Buckle. He was funny, warm, and a really silly crook, not very good at his job.”

Delving deeper into the plot, Andre explained, “When he went to Jamaica to try and pull off the heist, he was never going to be very good at that either. That was the whole point of the film – showing the depth and lengths you go to for the person you love. In Gary’s case, that was his grandmother.”
He also described Jafaican as a tongue-in-cheek film designed to evoke the humour and style of the 90s and early 2000s, taking audiences on a nostalgic journey.
Since the release of the trailer, reactions have been mixed, especially as Andre sports a dreadlock wig and adopts a Jamaican accent, sparking debate. Responding to critics, Andre acknowledged the importance of diverse opinions but urged audiences to watch the full film before passing judgment. “It’s very easy to criticise something based on a trailer,” he said. “I would say: ‘Go and watch the film first and you will see what the film is about,’ you will see the context. But also a critic should be able to criticise, so I understand how it is.”
