Peter Andre Reflects on Meeting Prince Harry at WellChild Awards

Pop icon Peter Andre and his wife, Dr. Emily MacDonagh, recently attended the WellChild Awards, a cherished charity event dedicated to supporting children with complex health needs. At the event, Peter had the unique opportunity to meet and engage with Prince Harry, the charity’s patron, who traveled from the US to attend the ceremony.

Prince Harry, who has been a passionate supporter of WellChild for 17 years, was visibly touched throughout the evening. He reflected on how fatherhood has deeply changed his outlook, sharing that “things hit different” now that he is a dad himself.

Dressed sharply in a tailored suit, Peter looked every bit the gentleman, while Emily impressed in an elegant white dress paired with tasteful accessories. Writing exclusively for OK! magazine, Peter described the event held at London’s Royal Lancaster Hotel as a deeply moving experience, highlighting the opportunity to meet Prince Harry, age 40, and the incredible families being honoured.

“We had an incredible night at the WellChild Awards meeting some extraordinary children and their families,” Peter wrote. “It was great to meet the Duke of Sussex, who is a huge part of the charity. It was Emily’s first time meeting him, and I’d forgotten how eloquent and well-spoken he is.”

Peter shared that their conversation mostly focused on the charity and Prince Harry’s commitment, despite having flown in from California that very morning. “Emily and I learned so much more about the charity’s invaluable work, and we’re now very keen to get more involved,” he added, as reported by the Mirror.

Prince Harry’s appearance on September 8 also coincided with the third anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II’s passing, adding a poignant dimension to the occasion. Speaking as patron, he called the annual WellChild Awards the “highlight” of his year and praised the resilience and courage of the children and families present.

Reflecting on his first WellChild Awards 18 years ago, he recalled, “I walked into the room and within about three minutes realized two things: the love and energy in the room was palpable, as was the unpredictability. And second, that I was completely hooked on it all. This night has remained a highlight of my year ever since.”

For Peter and Emily, both parents themselves, the event had extra personal meaning. Emily, who works as an NHS doctor, expressed her gratitude for the experience on Instagram, describing the charity as “incredible” for helping children receive care at home rather than in hospitals. She called attending the ceremony a “privilege” and praised WellChild’s profound impact on families.

Together, Peter and Emily were honoured to support such a remarkable cause and celebrate the bravery of the children and families who inspire the charity’s mission.
