Peter Andre has openly talked about the 16-year age gap between him and his wife, Emily MacDonagh. The couple, married in 2015, share three children: Amelia, Theo, and Arabella.
In his column for New! Magazine, the ‘Mysterious Girl’ singer revealed that their relationship dynamic works well despite the age difference, often joking that “age is just a number.” However, he also shared a humorous story where the gap was especially noticeable.
Referencing actor Stephen Fry’s 30-year age gap with his partner Elliott Spencer, Peter remarked, “It all depends on the relationship, how the partners are with each other and how they view things. There’s a 16-year gap between me and Emily, and it really works for us.”

Peter recounted a funny moment at the Pride of Britain awards when Jon Bon Jovi introduced himself to Emily. After Bon Jovi walked away, Emily asked Peter, puzzled, “Who was that?” When Peter said it was Bon Jovi, Emily’s innocent response was, “What’s a Bon Jovi?” This moment highlighted just how their age difference sometimes shows—in their differing music and film knowledge—but overall, they share many interests.
Peter and Emily first met when she was 20 and he was 36, but their romantic relationship began two years later. Their introduction was thanks to Emily’s father, Dr. Ruaraidh MacDonagh, a consultant urologist who cared for Peter during kidney stone surgery in 2010. Emily was a medical student at the time.
Their romance blossomed in 2012 and led to a beautiful wedding in 2015 at Mamhead House and Castle in Devon. Today, the family embraces a mostly private lifestyle online, particularly keeping their youngest children’s faces away from social media. Emily also acts as stepmother to Peter’s older children, Junior and Princess, from a previous marriage.
