Peter Andre Cast as Lead in Channel 5’s New Murder Drama

Peter Andre, the beloved singer and TV personality, is set to star in Channel 5’s highly anticipated new murder mystery, The Sunshine Murders. The series, scheduled to premiere this September, is set against the picturesque backdrop of Cyprus and promises a gripping storyline that will captivate viewers.

Andre, 52, will portray Dr. George, a skilled pathologist who plays a crucial role in unraveling complex crimes. This marks a significant return to acting for the former I’m A Celebrity star, who has gradually shifted his focus back to drama and film after a diverse career in music and reality television.

The Sunshine Murders also features familiar faces such as Star Trek’s Marina Sirtis and EastEnders alumna Nina Wadia, adding further star power to the production.

Despite recent backlash regarding his role in the comedy film Jafaican, where Andre played Gazza—a character adopting a Caribbean persona as part of a high-stakes fraud—he has remained undeterred. Reflecting on Jafaican, Andre told The Sun, “The script made me laugh constantly. It combines warmth with a heartfelt message about the lengths we go to for those we love. It also honors Jamaica beautifully.”

Andre expressed pride in the project’s success: “Some were skeptical about me taking on this role, but the phenomenal reviews have proved otherwise.”

Having trained as an actor in his youth before pursuing music at 16, Andre had always intended to return to acting later in life. “I told my dad that I’d shift back into film in my 40s,” he shared.

Beyond screen roles, Andre has showcased his talents on stage, starring in major theatre productions including ‘Grease,’ where he played both Teen Angel and Vince Fontaine.

Speaking to OK! Magazine last year about his upcoming Channel 5 role, Andre hinted at the excitement ahead: “I’ve secured a leading part in a new drama. I start filming next month and can’t wait to get stuck in. Watch this space!”

Peter Andre’s new role underlines his evolving career as he embraces challenging acting opportunities and continues to connect with audiences in new ways.
