A tragic incident near Swindon has resulted in the death of an individual who was hit by a train, according to police reports. British Transport Police responded to the scene on the Great Western Main Line at approximately 2:35 PM on April 5th following reports of a casualty on the tracks.
Paramedics arrived swiftly, but unfortunately, the person was pronounced dead at the scene. Officers have stated that the incident is not being treated as suspicious, and a file will be prepared for the coroner.
The event led to the immediate suspension of all train services in the area, causing significant delays and cancellations on routes to London Paddington. Great Western Railway confirmed that all lines in the affected section were blocked and that trains were brought to a halt for safety reasons.
