Firefighters from Chard were dispatched to Stibbear Lane in Donyatt at approximately 6:39 pm on December 2nd after reports of a person trapped in their vehicle by rising floodwaters. Upon reaching the scene, crews found the occupant still inside the submerged car.
Equipped with water rescue gear, the firefighters promptly moved to extricate the individual and escort them to safety. The rescue operation concluded successfully at 8:08 pm, with the occupant unharmed.
A spokesperson for Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service commented, “Fire Control received an urgent call regarding a person stuck in their vehicle amid floodwaters along Stibbear Lane. Our team from Chard responded immediately. On arrival, we confirmed the occupant remained inside and deployed our water rescue protective equipment to reach and safely remove them from the vehicle.”
