A person was successfully rescued from a burning building in Somerset this morning, Wednesday, July 2. The Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service was alerted to a domestic fire alarm in Taunton’s TA2 postcode area.
Initial crews from Taunton responded promptly, and subsequent emergency calls confirmed that there were people trapped inside the property. This led to the deployment of additional fire crews from Bridgwater and Wellington, along with an extra fire engine from Taunton.
Firefighters acted quickly to rescue one person from the burning home. To combat the fire, crews utilized two breathing apparatus sets, a positive pressure ventilation fan, a hose reel jet, a gas monitor, and a thermal imaging camera. The exact cause of the fire is currently unknown.

Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service commented, “Our crews were mobilised after receiving reports of a domestic fire with persons trapped inside. Thanks to the swift action of our teams from Taunton, Bridgwater, and Wellington, one individual was safely rescued, and the fire was brought under control using a range of firefighting equipment.”
