In the early hours of Saturday, December 6, firefighters responded to a kitchen fire in a mid-terraced property in Bridgwater. The alarm was raised at 2:13 am, prompting Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue to dispatch three fire engines from Taunton and Bridgwater.
Upon arrival, crews discovered the fire had broken out in the kitchen. Firefighters rescued one occupant from the property and ensured their safe evacuation. To extinguish the flames, the team utilized two breathing apparatus sets, a hose reel jet, a covering jet, a thermal imaging camera, a gas monitor, and a positive pressure fan.
The fire was fully extinguished, and the incident was declared over by 3:46 am. Authorities believe the fire started accidentally.

A spokesperson for Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue stated, “After receiving a report of a domestic fire, three fire engines were mobilized to the scene. On arrival, crews confirmed a kitchen fire in the mid-terraced property. One person was safely escorted out. Our teams used specialized equipment to quickly and effectively control and put out the fire. The cause is thought to be accidental.”
