A person has tragically died after being struck by a train on the South West rail line. The incident occurred near Burlescombe, between Taunton and Exeter St Davids stations, at approximately 5:30 pm on Thursday, December 4.
British Transport Police and paramedics responded promptly to the scene. A police spokesperson confirmed that the individual was pronounced dead at the location. Authorities have stated that the circumstances surrounding the incident are not believed to be suspicious. A report will be prepared for the coroner’s review.
Great Western Railway announced that all train services were immediately suspended in the Tiverton Parkway area following the collision.

The British Transport Police released a statement saying, “Officers were called to a report of a casualty on the tracks near Burlescombe just after 5:30 pm yesterday. Paramedics attended, but sadly a person was confirmed deceased at the scene. The incident is not considered suspicious, and a file will be submitted to the coroner.”
