A serious collision involving two vehicles in Aller, near Langport, resulted in one individual being airlifted to hospital on Saturday afternoon. The incident occurred at approximately 1.35pm on August 29, prompting a swift response from Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service as well as local police and ambulance teams.
Crews from Bridgwater and Somerton were dispatched to assist at the scene where one person was found trapped inside a car. Working closely with paramedics, fire personnel implemented a coordinated rescue operation. They employed stabilisation equipment to secure the vehicle and facilitated the safe extraction of the casualty using a scoop stretcher.
Following the rescue, the individual was airlifted to hospital for urgent medical attention. Other casualties at the scene sustained minor injuries. Firefighters remained on site until 5.20pm, after which responsibility for ongoing care and investigation was transferred to the police and ambulance services.
