Tucked away at the end of a quiet lane and overlooking a vast lake, the boathouse is surrounded by peaceful woodland. The serene setting immediately promises relaxation and romance, making it an ideal retreat from the everyday hustle.
One of the highlights was the hot tub on the deck. We found ourselves soaking beneath a star-studded sky, the tranquility of the surroundings amplifying the magical experience. During the day, the lakeside views and the gentle song of birds created a perfect backdrop for unwinding.

Inside, the ambiance was just as inviting. The fireplace was easy to light, and sitting by the flickering flames with a glass of wine on the plush leather sofa was deeply soothing.
We chose to prepare a simple paella-inspired dinner in the boathouse’s well-equipped kitchen. Despite initial uncertainty about cooking away from home, the kitchen had everything needed to make the meal a success. The bathroom was compact but modern and featured a unique double sink vanity—an unexpected but welcome touch.
For me, the bed is always the ultimate test of comfort when away from home. At Orchardleigh, the bed was spacious and exceptionally cozy, making it hard to leave in the morning. After a quick breakfast, we indulged in one last dip in the hot tub before heading back.
On route to Bristol, we stumbled upon Bradford-on-Avon, a charming town perfect for a leisurely coffee break and stroll—an added bonus from our trip.
The Boathouse at Orchardleigh is the perfect couples' retreat, exuding warmth and intimacy—a wonderful place to reconnect and escape the busyness of city life. Surrounded by stunning views and thoughtful amenities, our day-long getaway left us completely relaxed and reluctant to return to the fast pace of Bristol.
