A tragic accident on the A303 in Somerset resulted in the death of a pedestrian on Sunday evening, December 21. Emergency services were dispatched to the scene at 9:40 p.m. following a collision involving a Seat Leon and a pedestrian near the Crewkerne junction.
Sadly, the pedestrian passed away at the scene. Their family has been informed and is receiving support from specially trained liaison officers.
The vehicle’s driver and two passengers were transported to hospital with minor injuries. They are currently assisting police with the ongoing investigation.

Avon and Somerset Police are urgently seeking information from a van driver who exited the A303 at the Crewkerne junction around the time of the crash, as they may have vital details about the circumstances leading up to the collision.
Authorities ask anyone with information or dashcam footage relevant to the incident to contact police promptly.
In a statement, Avon and Somerset Police said: “We are appealing for a key witness to come forward following a fatal collision on the A303 eastbound between South Petherton and Cartgate. The collision occurred just before the A356 Crewkerne junction and involved a Seat Leon and a pedestrian, who sadly died at the scene.”
“Our thoughts are with the deceased’s family during this difficult time. They have been informed and are being supported by a specialist family liaison officer.”
“The driver and passengers of the Seat Leon sustained minor injuries and are assisting with our enquiries.”
